MUNRO, WEEK 34: JULY!

Hello Family! 

It's JULY... almost... It is also getting colder! I love it! The weather isn't that far off from winter in Oregon so that's definitely a blessing. I would say that right now its the equivalent of October... I think. I am not sure. My body keeps telling me that is July, I should be sweating right now. But nope.

This past week was good. I went on divisions with the Zone Leaders and that was great. I always learn a ton when I do divisions so that is a great blessing; gives us a chance to shake things up in the area. 

We are starting to receive some investigators here and there and references from the members which is a HUGE help. Members are pretty much the key, have I said that before? :) 

We had an investigator that was ready to get baptized and then moved outside our boundaries into another ward by ONE street. So that was frustrating but we were able to make the hand off pretty smooth and we hope to here good results!

MUNRO, WEEK 33: BRACE YOURSELF! WINTER COMETH!

Hi Family, 

This week for us was a rough week. We dropped our investigators and everything so we don't really have anybody to teach that will lead to baptism in the future. We didn't receive any references either so it was a lot of walking and visiting with less actives. However, at the end of the week we received a few possible investigators. Goes to show you that the members are KEY. I can't stress that enough. This week we will try to change things up a little to get better results. :)

We had a Zone Conference with the President this past week. It was great. It was about seeing miracles in the mission and everything. I learned a lot and it definitely changed things in the missionaries. I love the mission! 

Anyways, it's now time to go win at soccer at the church. :) I love you all!

MUNRO, WEEK 32: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

(As a preface, Kyle found out on Monday, June 16th that his niece, Elizabeth, was born 2 weeks early on Father's Day. A lot of Kyle's email was personal; very sweet and meant for the family so I've heavily edited it.)

I am very very happy this day because when I opened my email I saw 20 EMAILS! Most (if not all) from my family! And what made me even more happy is that MY BROTHER IS A FATHE¨R AND MY SISTER IN LAW IS A MOTHER! THAT'S SO AWESOME! I am very very very happy. And everybody is healthy so that makes me even more happy.  I love the picture of taylor with his ¨Daddys Little Girl¨ thing for Elizabeth. What a great Father's Day. Which brings me to my next point.

Which brings me to another subject: "Out of all the titles of glory or majesty that He could have chosen, He chose to be called Father." I love that quote about our Heavenly Father. In one title it contains more information about who He is and who we are more than in anything else. He is the only person who we can talk to anytime and anywhere in any condition and He will be happy to help. I am grateful for that opportunity that I have to preach that to people everyday, about our Heavenly Father. 

Which brings me to another subject. About the time the Elizabeth was born (more or less 20 minutes) I was in the circle for the confirmation of Bruno. An investigator, who, despite the fact that his family told him that he wasn't welcome to come to their home if he got baptized in the church, he knew it was right and he did it anyways. He is 72 years old and a great person.

MUNRO, WEEK 31: MUUUUUNROW (Roll the r)

Well, first off... I am lost! If my companion told me to lead us to the house of a member or investigator or anything. Forget it. There is no way. So many bus stops, buses, blocks, turns and space! The area is pretty big. But all this comes with any new area. I will learn with time! 

This week was basically a learning week for me. Meeting members, meeting investigators, meeting new bus numbers and just trying to remember which apartment building is ours. But I do love my new area! 

Today, we have a zone activity in a place called Unicenter. Which I think is like a shopping center. But I am not sure. 

[Random note. The man next to me is jamming out on the air drums with headphones with no shame. That's pretty cool. Guns n Roses.]

The name of my companion is Elder B*. We get along great. The Lord is definitely blessing me. 

We have an investigator for this end of week and he is super ready. Stopped smoking and everything. He is a great guy! Attached is a foto of the cigarettes that my companion and I convinced him to give us. He was only smoking one a day down from 15 a day. something happened and he was just going to smoke his worries away. we got him to cut! So he gave us the pack and then I gave him one (as was the deal) cigarette and said that this was his last and he agreed. Talked to him today. Hasn't smoked since and says he feels great. He is awesome! Super ready! Pray for him! (now we just have a pack of cigarettes sitting in the apartment)

MUNRO, WEEK 30: TRANSFERS

Well hello family! 

Well we just had transfers today AAAAAAAAANNNNND.. BOOM. Transferred to a new area. It's called Munró. You have to roll the R. :) It seems pretty cool. A quiet, little (not so little) area. My companion told me that we spend a lot of money on the bus here so the members give us lunches. That's awesome! 

I will miss my old companion and my old area but the Lord wants me here now! 

My new companion is Elder B*. He is from Colombia! He was in my zone before so I know him a little bit. I am excited; he is a really cool guy. It's very interesting how I have had 4 companions all from different countries. Utah, Spain with Elder G*, then Argentina with Elder L* and then Elder B* from Colombia. Pretty cool! It's an awesome experience.

This past week was good. The time is FLYING by. My two transfers with Elder L* seemed like it was only one month. I learned a lot from him and I look forward to applying it. 

Our new apartment is pretty nice. It has a barbecue thing to cook by fire (it's like a fireplace). So that is something dandy. Maybe I will have to venture for different foods. 

In Soldati we had three baptisms. I don't know if I already told you all but they are doing great; 20 years old. 19 and 17. 

The weather is great. Crisp is a good way to describe it. Cold at night somewhat warm during the day. It's perfect weather. 

My umbrella broke the other day so I will be looking for a new one! 

A member just received his calling yesterday in my last area. He is going to Resistencia, Argentina. He leaves in one month. It's going to be great. It's exciting to see people that you have helped progress in the gospel! 

I feel like during the week things happen and I get excited to tell you all. Then comes Monday and I can´t remember a thing about the week. Maybe I will start writing these things down. 

It's a miracle that everything fit in my suitcases today. I feel like my things are multiplying. But in reality I haven´t bought anything. How does it happen?!? I do have a lot of books from the MTC that I could probably get rid of. I will see what I don´t use and toss it this coming transfer. 

Something that I just learned is that my MTC companion is in the same zone! So we will be playing soccer together. WOOT! 

The temple was awesome last week. I'ts closed for June (members say for the World Cup but that's not true) for cleaning and stuff. So we went before and it was great. One of the photos that I sent was of my companion and a friend from his ward he met. It was great photo. 

We had interviews with the president. They went great. He told me that when I turned 6 months that he felt I was ready to be senior companion but the problem is that there are no new missionaries right now. We got rid of 3 missionaries and just received one new sister this transfer. And the next transfer doesn't look like we will receive many more either. When I arrived we were at 290 missionaries now we are at 240. 

My first Zone Leader went home. He finished already! He greeted me my very first day. Then my next area he and I went on divisions. It was great. He is awesome. Taught me a lot. 

One day family, we are all going to be sitting in the living room drinking mate together! (I drink mate cocido. It's great) 

Off to play soccer! I love you all! Pray for me and I will pray for you!

POMPEYA, WEEK 29: TEMPLE TRIP

We went to the temple today and didn't have time to write! I will write a lot more the next week.

POMPEYA, WEEK 28: THE WEEK

Well, this week was cool, had a meeting in San Fernando and everything!

During the week, we had a meeting in San Fernando in the church offices for district leaders and their companions. It was very interesting. I also got too see my old district from the MTC. We sat together for lunch and it was good to see their progress. 

We have 4 baptisms this coming weekend. They were going to get baptized yesterday but they wanted to get baptized together, so we postponed it.

Today the president invited us to go to his house to have a barbecue with him and play games for p-day. I hope there is soccer! So we are writing early today. I am excited! 

I am doing pretty good. Eating healthy. (We bought the equivalent of 8 pounds of mandarins and oranges for one dollar! Score!)

I am looking for an umbrella because the one I brought from home broke. It's definitely getting colder here and I am very grateful for my jackets!

Something that I would like to do is return to Argentina to do some extra curriculars like fishing, backpacking and hunting because I heard that the south is very beautiful. It would be awesome!

POMPEYA, WEEK 27: REEEAAAL QUICK

Don't blink! You will miss the email. :) It's going to be really short this go around because I just talked to you all yesterday!

You guys all look great, I am glad you are all receiving the blessings. 

Like I said everything is fine here. Just keep scything (is that a word?) the field that is ready for harvest! 

Today we are going to the River stadium and a tourist area of the city so I will try to take some pictures!

MOTHER'S DAY PHONE CALL

Kyle got to Skype home on Mother's Day afternoon. It was so good to see him and hear from him! Weekly emails are great but it's just not the same as a face to face! Once again, we had multiple computers hooked up so Kyle's sister, Lindsey and her family, could participate from Washington. We had a whole hour to pepper Kyle with questions and hear more stories from his mission. It was over all too soon! 

We can't believe he only gets to call home two more times on his mission. Where is the time going?

POMPEYA, WEEK 26: HELLO FAMILY!

Alright.

This past week was good for us but also dissapointing. We had 4 baptisms planned for yesterday (Sunday) but they fell through. They were either sick or suddenly went out of town. I don't know for sure. But we reset the date for this Sunday and we will see what we are going to do! 

We learned a lot this past week about the little simple things that make the difference. We as missionaries feel responsible for the decisions of our investigators and we have to make sure that we do ALL that we can do in order to help them make the right choices, and that includes diligence and obedience! 

So, my companion and I rededicated ourselves. Set goals and everything to be better this week. To find more, teach better, and be faithful instruments in the hands of the Lord. 

One thing that I realized this past week is that if we are doing what we are supposed to do, the members are affected too. If we are being good examples, the members are going to notice. 2 weeks ago a father of a priest that accompanies us told us that he is very excited that his son accompanies us because he can see a change in his behavior and how he acts and talks about the missionaries. Now that was a great blessing to hear. That even when we don't know it, we are making a difference! Well then, this last week that same father called us at about 9:30 when we were just finishing planning and he told us: "Elders, can you call my son and talk to him? Because he is not being very obedient today." What a surprise! My companion said. "Wow, he sure does have a lot of confidence in us to tell us that!" It's so true. We called the son up. Told him what's what and helped out the family. They are all awesome and help us a lot. The son is really cool and a super good member and priest. So remember! SOMEONE IS WATCHING AND SOMEONE NOTICES. You can affect lives without even knowing it. So affect them for the BETTER! 

Besides that everything is going great. Getting colder but the heat still comes back with a vengeance sometimes. Humidity is killer. Today though I put on my jeans! For the first time since forever. It feels good. But walking in the street with them feels weird. I feel like I blended in a little more. Like I was in hiding. In civvies.

Well today we are going to go play soccer once agian! YEEESSSS. With the members too so it's going to be fun!
