MTC WEEK 5

Well, HOWDY everybody!

First off, the Lord answers our prayers and takes care of those you pray for. He is there, He cares, and He wants us to ask and progress through Him.

A pretty good week this go around.
Monday was cool because we got to Skype with someone from Mexico and share a message with them. They have some cool technology hear. I think it is in the old media referral rooms. Because they also have some serious cubicle set ups and headphone gear. It was a really cool opportunity and we get to do it again this coming Monday

Kyle's companions: Elder Gallup and Elder Lunt

After Skyping we got to host the Senior Missionaries coming in. That was a neat experience we helped them get their luggage up to their rooms (A LOT nicer than regular missionary dorms) Depending on their mission they either come here or to the Marriot. Some are going to Finland or to Florida. They are really nice people. And they were a great example to us missionaries.

Tuesday we got up bright and early to play soccer on the field against our good friends the Japanese. It was really fun. Not too crowded. We always are competitive on the field with the Japanese but off the field we are all buds. Just last night they came down when we just got back to our residence. (they are on the floor above us.) And we all took information and pictures to keep in touch during the mission and when we return afterwards. They are really cool guys and there is a sense of mutual respect between us. We wish them the best. They leaver this Monday

Kyle's class with their teacher, Hermana Vawdrey, who went to Argentina on her mission and has a wonderful accent.

Wednesday and Thursday went by the same. Just blasting through class. Little bumps and bruises. But all is well. Our lessons are going pretty good with our Progressing Investigators. Our studies are increasing and we couldn't be happier.

We move to West Campus this Tuesday and I am packing up today. That's all the details I have for you.

A HUGE PEICE OF GOOD NEWS.

I GOT MY TRAVEL PLANS! Yes, it is for sure now. I will be going to Argentina, most likely on a travel visa for now but I am pretty confident that my regular visa will be coming through in the meantime. We prayed hard as a district, companionship and personally for this and our prayers were answered. I am so excited!

That is pretty much my week!

I will have more/different news next week with the Campus change.

Thank you ALL for your letters. They help out tremendously.

Sincerely,
Elder Moore

MTC WEEK 4

Hola,

Another week has flown by and I am quickly approaching my departure date of the 4th. This coming week I should get my itinerary. I am pretty sure I will be getting a 90 day or 6 month travel Visa. So things are looking up about going to Argentina, but we will see. If we get our real VISA´s during that time we have to leave the country and return back under the new VISA. Not looking forward to that because they said we either have to come back to the US and pick them up or just go to Uruguay if they can get them there. Hopefully its the latter.

A rather good week has come to pass. Nothing much different other than the fact that we got the heads up that we are moving to WEST campus on the 29th. They are making WEST campus a spanish only campus. We are excited for the move but don´t want to pack up, get there then leave 5 or 6 days later. However, I am willing to go where the Lord wants us. I got a new companion..... for a day, on monday. The older district all left for the field and one of them had a later flight than the others so I got paired with him. His name is Elder Phibbs.

Nothing different. Happened, for those who are curious about how I teach the lessons its pretty fun once I got the hang of it. So far I have taught or am teaching 3 investigators. They are actually our teachers acting like a person they taught on their mission. They remain COMPLETELY in character and they respond exactly how they think or know the actual person would respond. Its really cool how well and how real the situation feels. Especially if you have the Spirit, you automatically feel a love for the person and you believe they are real. We teach our lessons completely in Spanish. They are about 20 to 25 minutes long depending on how well you teach and how well the investigator understands. They are amazing experiences and my companions and I have walked out with that "whoa, that was amazing" feeling.

Wednesday, I got to host an international student from Scotland. It was amazing. His name was Elder Banks. I told him that some of our ancestors are from Scotland, he said he wasn't surprised and that every body claims that. THen I totally knocked it of the park by saying, "Well I bet most people who claim that don't know their family tartan, clan, or their family motto slogan thing. (so I told him about those and the Scottish themed wedding of Taylors' and Kerri's.) Then he genuinely was surprised and said "okay thats more than a wee bit better than most." He is a cool guy, incredibly jet lagged so we took all the elevators to his classroom and dorm room.

The others day went by without incident.

Tis all I have to report for this week!

Press Forward Saints!

With Love,

Elder Moore

MTC WEEK 3

Hello once again!

Today is officially my first REAL Prep day because the first Saturday was my first P day so I couldn't utilize the whole day because I had no idea what I was doing. The second Saturday was General Conference. And then there is today, so today is the first official one.

Nothing too crazy happened during the week, I got another companion so now I am in a trio. He is pretty cool, we get along great.

On Thursday I woke up feeling absolutely horrible, and fought being sick the whole day. I drank water, some soda, and played it easy. I woke up the next day, felt fine again. So, not sure what I had but hopefully I don't get it again.

Class is going well. We have a lot of studying and preparing to do. We now have 2 investigators we teach every other day and its getting easier and easier to teach through the Spirit. Little by little but we have had some really cool experiences in the "member's home". Our teachers are really cool and they are great at motivating us and getting us to get up and do the work. So far, I have not fallen asleep in any class or devotional which is great but we are all really tired and we try not to take naps. I took one on the day I wasn't feeling good but I didn't really fall asleep, I just kind of laid there.

The language is difficult, but we keep getting better each day. I can understand a lot but its hard to rearrange the words to make the structure of the sentences and to conjugate them so that they make sense. I still try to make them into an English structure by adding too many small words, but I forget that in Spanish, depending on the conjugation the small words like "will you" or "can you" are included in the conjugated verb and the tone of voice.

Oh! So my favorite pass time during gym time is to go out to the field and play soccer. It is REALLY fun. We have a standing rivalry with the Japanese. A friendly one and we don't keep score but its still awesome to have something really competitive like that instead of a rousing game of four square in the gymnasium. During one of these heated soccer games, I somehow got kicked in the rib while I was playing soccer and I am pretty sure I bruised it. There is a bruise on my right side about the size of my palm and it hurts to twist my abdomen. If it gets any worse I will probably go see the doctor here.

Speaking of services, I got my haircut here the other day. It was free and they did a pretty good job. I was impressed.

That's basically it!

I love you all,
thank you for the letters,
keep 'em coming!

MTC WEEK 2

Dear Family!
Greetings from the MTC! Today is going to be a wonderful day with conference and I am really excited to hear what the Prophets have to say and also what the Lord has to say. It feels a tad different to listen to General Conference as a missionary alongside hundreds of others, but I am very excited. I am writing this email in the few minutes before we go to the gymnasium. It's at 10 o clock here! That's so weird to me! In my mind it started at 9 but that's only in Oregon. Oh, also, for Priesthood the MTC men are not singing, they decided to choose BYU choir or something like that. A tad disappointing but none the less, I am still excited.

Heading to the Provo Temple on preparation day (P-day).

This week seemed to go by a little faster. I am sleeping a little better than last week but I am still constantly tired. I am really a morning person though and this schedule made me realize that. The hardest time to stay awake though is between 7-8, our last hour of class. I have not fallen asleep yet but many in our district have.

Kyle and his companion, Elder Lunt.

Spanish is interesting. A lot of double words and forms, but it also seems to make more sense than English. In my mind saying "the power of God" makes more sense and flows easier than "God's power." Its very interesting. The language is coming along. The Gift of Tongues is real because even though we think we don't remember everything, as soon as we get into lessons of our investigator, the recall rate of what you learned or did is phenomenal. My spanish is still VERY broken because I haven't gotten the hang of past tense preterite and imperfect verbs but I can get the point across rather easily. I keep praying and keep studying and that really helps.

Kyle's "district" -- all of them heading to South America in a month.

The food here is okay. You have to be careful what you eat, I tend to lean towards more fruit stuff because I know they can't ruin that very easily. Oh! The Most embarrassing thing happened to me. I was getting chocolate milk in a glass. I set it down and on the counters there a these "railings" where you slide your tray along it and they are only about a half an inch raised, anyway, I set my milk down accidentally on one of those railings and Woosh! It went everywhere. Including me. I drenched my entire left side in chocolate milk. My white shirt was no longer white, and my pants where no longer dry and my socks and shoes were no longer silent when I walked. Squish squish. Anyway i tried to clean it up with napkins and I went and told a worker what i did and she laughed and said "just leave it there, we will get it" So I had to walk over, grab my tray, and just leave it there. I felt so bad, I didn't want someone else to clean it up. But that's what they told me to do, so oh well. :/ I did get the stains out of the shirt and the pants and socks and shoes. My slacks are thankfully washable so I just washed them today and let them hang dry since they are featherweight. So yeah, that was my embarrassing moment. But I laugh about it.

Quiet time is supposed to start at 10:15, that is when we are supposed to have our time with the Lord but nobody goes to bed till lights out around 10:30, so I just wait till then and have a good 15-20 minutes before I go to bed. I am a big believer in this "appointment with the Lord" every night. I look forward to it. Even though its supposed to be lights out at 10:30, I have this little desk lamp I use and I figure that if I have to stay up 15 minutes later to get some quiet one on one time with the Lord then that is okay and I will be blessed for it. I already have been.

Kyle and Elder Lunt in their MTC dorm room.

Thank you for the letters and DearElder´s I absolutely LOVE THEM. They keep me grounded and going.

I have a great time with my district, they are fun people. I love my companion, we work well together.

With Love,
